Paris Hilton & Matt Leinart: Cozy in Vegas

Hilton and Leinart on May 1

Matt Leinart celebrated being drafted into the NFL by partying at a Las Vegas nightclub on Tuesday with Paris Hilton.

For the record, Leinart was joined at the club PURE by more than 200 of his closest friends, including Nick Lachey, Wilmer Valderrama and Danny Masterson – but he spent the better part of the evening with the newly single Hilton, a source tells PEOPLE.

On his way into the bash, the 22-year-old, 6'5", Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback, who was recently drafted by the Arizona Cardinals, told PEOPLE, "After this, it's all business, all NFL."

Inside, he danced with Hilton, 25, on the club's VIP beds. She called him "baby" and rested her head on his back, sometimes holding his hand, says the source.

The pair danced the night away – and at one point disappeared together behind closed doors in the club's private suite.

Later, Hilton treated the crowd to an impromptu concert, jumping on top of the DJ booth and belting out several songs from her upcoming album, including a rendition of Rod Stewart's "Do You Think I'm Sexy" – which she dedicated to Leinart. When not on the dance floor, the pair nestled themselves into the corner of a VIP bed, where they kissed and hugged before leaving around 3:30 a.m.

Hilton and Leinart have been spotted together several times recently. On May 1, Hilton, wearing a brunette wig, shopped at the Grove in Los Angeles with Leinart, PEOPLE reports. That night, they partied together at L.A. club Shag. "They seemed really into each other," said one witness. "He was very touchy-feely."

Leinart's rep denies that they're dating, and Hilton's publicist, Elliot Mintz, says, "She knows Matt, she likes Matt. They are friends. I don't want to go any further than that. They have known each other a while."

Nicole Richie: 'I'm Too Thin'

Nicole Ritchie

Nicole Richie, whose rail-thin frame has been a source of much discussion in the media, is now joining the chorus of voices saying that she is too skinny. "I know I'm too thin right now, so I wouldn't want any young girl looking at me and saying, 'That's what I want to look like,' " Richie tells Vanity Fair in its June issue.

"I do know that they will, which is another reason I really do need to do something about it. I'm not happy with the way I look right now." Richie blames her severe weight loss on, in part, her December breakup with then-fiancé Adam "DJ AM" Goldstein. "I get really stressed out, and I do lose my appetite," she says. (She and AM have been spotted together again recently.)

In an effort to put on a few pounds, Richie says she forced herself to eat – particularly high-calorie foods like burritos – but eventually sought professional help. "I started seeing a nutritionist and a doctor. I was scared that it could be something more serious." She is also working with a psychiatrist and a personal trainer.

Her medical team characterizes Richie's weight as "in the realm of anorexia," the magazine reports. However, Dr. Jeffery Wilkins, vice-chair of the department of psychiatry at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, points out, "Our evaluation could change at any time." Wilkins adds, "We're all concerned, and she's concerned, but it's either going to improve or it won't.

If it's not anorexia, she should be able to gain the weight. If it ends up being anorexia, we'll help her with that. I think she's willing to look this in the eye."

Julia Roberts Calls Motherhood 'Fantastic'

Julia Roberts

Julia Roberts played matchmaker on Thursday night's Late Show – suggesting that David Letterman's 2-year-old son, Harry, hook up with her 17-month-old daughter. "He'd be perfect for Hazel," said the Erin Brockovich Oscar winner, who has been named one of PEOPLE's "Most Beautiful People" 10 times.

"Harry and Hazel. Isn't that cute?" After confessing how labor intensive it is to cope with one child, Letterman suggested to Roberts that having two – Hazel's twin brother is Phinnaeus – must be "psycho." Replied Roberts: "You know how some things are so ugly they become beautiful again? This is so psycho it's fantastic."

Describing her children and their similarities and differences, Roberts said, "They seem to really love each other. … He's sort of very boyish and masculine. He has red hair and big green eyes. And she's very girlish and has very blonde hair and blue eyes. He likes blueberries. She likes her daddy."

That would be cameraman Danny Moder, whom Roberts, now 38, wed in July 2002. Studiously avoided was any discussion of the critical reaction to the Broadway play in which Roberts now stars, Three Days of Rain – reviews for which were mainly negative. She did chide Letterman for not coming to her April 19 opening, however, especially since the theater is "only eight blocks away" – and since Oprah Winfrey managed to fly all the way in from Chicago for the premiere. "You got my note about the rash?" Letterman joked.

Still, she said of being on stage, "It's thrilling. It's my dream come to life, my professional dream." Once the curtain comes down for good on the drama June 18, Roberts says she'll be back before the cameras to star with Tom Hanks and possibly Philip Seymour Hoffman for director Mike Nichols in an adaptation of the book Charlie Wilson's War, about a Texas congressman's covert dealings in Afghanistan.

As for Letterman's future, Roberts asked, "Have you got married yet to Harry's mom (Regina Lasko)?" Once he regained his composure, a still-ruffled Letterman joked: "The paperwork is still at the courthouse. … It'll happen when a day opens up on the calendar."

Vince Vaughn Breaks Silence on Jennifer Aniston

Vince Vaughn

When it comes to discussing their relationship, neither Jennifer Aniston nor Vince Vaughn has been very forthcoming.

Most questions put to them, in fact, are met with dead silence. Until now. Taking a direct approach to get his guest to talk, David Letterman tells Vaughn on Friday night's Late Show, according to a preview obtained by the Associated Press: "Hey, nice going on that Jennifer Aniston thing." Slightly thrown off balance, Vaughn – who costars with Aniston in the upcoming The Break Up – recovers and responds: "It's very nice of you to say that, Dave, thank you. Yeah, it's been kind of interesting for me, and I just choose not to talk about my private life that much publicly."

Letterman then flat out asks if Vaughn and Aniston are a couple. Replies the comic actor: "I'm not saying we are or aren't a couple. I think she's great, but I just don't discuss whether we are." As the conversation develops, Vaughn, 36, turns to the audience and, referring to Letterman, announces: "Do you like the way he just kind of takes the approach that it's fact?"

Letterman fared much better than Today show reporter Jill Rappaport, who on April 4 was met with silence from Aniston when she inquired about Vaughn (in particular, whether Oprah Winfrey was really about to toss the couple an $8 million wedding, as had been rumored).

Aniston even skirted the Vaughn issue two weeks later when Winfrey had her on the show to clear up the wedding rumors. When Winfrey asked if there was anything else she wanted to address, Aniston said: "No wedding, no moves, no no. I'll keep you posted."

Katie Joins Tom at M:I 3 Premiere

Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise

After a whirlwind Wednesday in which he took Manhattan by storm to open his Mission: Impossible III, Tom Cruise brought something extra special to the Los Angeles premiere on Thursday: Katie Holmes.

This marked the first time in weeks that the globetrotting leading man – who'd been traveling solo – had his fiancĂ©e and mother of his 2-week-old daughter back at his side in public.

Pulling up to Grauman's Chinese Theater behind the wheel of a black sports car with Holmes in the passenger seat, Cruise said: "We are looking forward to seeing this.

This is Katie's first night out since we had Suri." A voluptuous-looking Holmes, already slimmed down since the last stages of her pregnancy, was wearing a loose-fitting black cocktail dress with white pumps as she clung to Cruise while he signed autographs and posed for photos.

Referring to her weight, Holmes told one fan, "I haven't lost that much yet." Still, insisted the admirer, Holmes looks amazing. "

Thank you," she said. "I try to eat healthy." Asked by PEOPLE how it felt to be making her first public appearance since giving birth, Holmes smiled and said: "Wonderful."
And baby Suri? "Gorgeous!" she gushed. Holmes also said that "some very good friends" were taking care of the infant – while Cruise (wearing a black suit and sunglasses) took care of Holmes, making sure she was as much a part of his night as the fans. As the festivities continued, someone in the crowd handed Cruise a homemade gift for Suri: four, three-inch pink knitted toy blocks, each with the letters "S," "U," "R," "I" knitted in white on the blocks. Clearly touched by the gesture, Cruise handed the blocks to Holmes and then tightly hugged the fan.

"Thank you so much," he said. "This is really appreciated. I love homemade gifts. Have a wonderful summer." Added Holmes: "Thank you. They're beautiful. … That's so sweet. I know just where to put them."

Richards No Longer Friends With Locklear

Denise Richards

Denise Richards, who is seeking a divorce from Charlie Sheen, says she is no longer friends with Heather Locklear, in the next issue of People magazine.

Photos of Richards with Locklear's estranged husband, Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora, recently appeared in celebrity magazines. One photo showed Richards kissing Sambora.

"I wish Heather well," the 35-year-old actress is quoted in the magazine. "Unfortunately, our friendship had to dissolve and I'm sad about that. The last thing I would want to do is create a media frenzy like this, especially as I'm trying to get through a divorce."

Locklear, 44, filed for divorce from Sambora on Feb. 2, citing irreconcilable differences. The two have been separated since Dec. 26, according to the divorce filing.

Sambora, 46, is seeking joint custody of their 8-year-old daughter Ava.

Anna Nicole Smith Pregnancy Rumors Swirl

Anna Nicole Smith

Reports published Thursday claim former reality TV star and Playboy playmate Anna Nicole Smith is pregnant. In response, Smith's lawyer and spokesman, Howard K. Stern, issued a statement that makes the matter as clear as a blurred sonogram image.

"If Anna Nicole is pregnant, she obviously doesn't want anybody to know yet," Stern wrote in an e-mail Thursday to The Associated Press. "If she's not pregnant, she's not denying the rumor because she thinks it's funny how much of a stir it's causing. She'll leave it up to you to guess which one it is."

Smith, 38, has a 20-year-old son, Daniel, from her first marriage. Just this week, Smith won a judgment from the Supreme Court that allows her to continue to seek part of her late husband's fortune.

Smith married Texas oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall II in 1994, when she was 26 and he was 89. He died the following year. Since then, Smith has feuded with Marshall's son, Pierce Marshall, over her entitlement to the tycoon's estate.
