Celebrity News: Underwear Party at Pitt's House?

Sure, if you believe Casey Affleck, his costar in The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.

Pitt presented Affleck with the Hollywood Breakthrough Actor of the Year Award at last night’s Hollywood Awards gala at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

Affleck said he auditioned for Jesse James at Pitt’s house. "There was a little chair set up with a camera on Brad’s lawn on his estate, and he came back maybe in his boxers," Affleck said. "I can’t remember. He rolled out of bed. He came down, did a scene a couple of times and they told me I didn’t get it. I thought, Well, I’m better off."

As we all know, Affleck actually did get the part. Perhaps those remarks were payback for Pitt roasting him during his presentation?

Pitt cracked that he didn’t know much about Affleck until he met him during the making of Ocean's Eleven. "He was good in Good Will Hunting," Pitt quipped about a movie more associated with Affleck's big brother, Ben.

And then he needled Affleck with yet another member of his family.

Of Affleck’s work in To Die For, Pitt teased, "I remember Joaquin [Phoenix]—great work!" (Remember, Affleck is married to Phoenix's sister Summer.)

Introducing a series of clips showing Affleck’s "hits and misses," Pitt said, "He’s been struggling, working hard to make a name for himself."

But Affleck wasn’t Pitt’s only target. He acknowledged Jesse James’ less than stellar box office by groaning that the flick is "playing now at a theater nowhere near you."

And that’s not all I have for you from the Hollywood Film Festival's Hollywood Awards. Gotta run right now to shoot this week’s installment of my Planet Gossip show.

But I’ll be back later to give ya the deets on Catherine Zeta-Jones, Richard Gere, John Travolta, Marcia Gay Harden and Janet Jackson.
